A Course in Miracles (2006 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) This is my ultimate personal textbook. The Course is a Spiritual Self Study journey in the transformation of a thought system based on fear to one of Love. This is the alchemical definition of a Miracle, a sift form fear to Love. In 3 parts, the Text is a journey in & of itself. The Workbook gives 365 days of prayer / meditation to support the mind's training as described in the Text. The Manual for Teachers, my favorite part, helps with more practical insight into living the Course as a way of Life. One of my favorite things on earth & a true Gift from Source. MAL |

A Hat Full of Sky
by Terry Pratchett My New Favorite Pratchett Book, It has Granny Weatherwax, The Nac Mac Feegle & a young Witch who has stolen my heart. Move over Smurfs. I'd take Jennie the Keldar over Smurfette any day & I mean that with the deepest respect, because Taking a Keldar is probably a very dangerous thing to do with all those blue men around. Howl with insider Witch controversy. I loved every second. MAL |

A Lion Among Men by Gregory
Maguire (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) The third book in Maguire's Wicked Trilogy. 1) Wicked 2) Son of a Witch The first 2 books were wonderful, but this one really touched me. Reading the first 2 would be helpful, but this story stands on its own while weaving the new & old OZ mythos together. It follows Brrr, the Cowardly Lion through his life as he slowly recalls his lapsed life as a small cub. We see his role in the whole Yellow Brick Road journey through the eyes of a broader personal history. Maguire portrays a highly intelligent & therefore more thoughtful & pensive Lion. We see through the common depiction of cowardice into the self preservation & survival issues that face us all. A strong story about identity, tribal dynamics & of course true courage. A Tail for the Lost Orphan in all of us. MAL |

The Amazing Power of
Deliberate Intent by Esther & Jerry Hicks (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) This is the sequel to Ask & it is Given by Abraham-Hicks. I am thoroughly impressed by their work in general & this book helped to solidify a lot of the principles in Ask. You don't have to have read the first book to benefit from this one. It goes into enough of the basic Law of Attraction material, that if you are familiar with the Laws, this will be a powerful addendum to learning. I find the Hicks to be very committed to their work, in that they live what they teach. This book shows you how they do it. Fun Stuff.

Are You There Vodka?
It's Me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler (2010 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) In my line of work taking time to laugh, REALLY laugh is essential. Ms Handler's stories made me double over laughing. She provides a series of short autobiographical essays ranging from childhood to the present. We are given brief glimpses into her family, friends, lovers, work & home life. Couched in the sharpest humor is a woman of power, an Alpha Female. Favorite moment: Regifting. This was so much fun, I highly reccommended her work regardlessof venue. MAL |

The Astonishing Power of Emotions by Jerry &
Esther Hicks Published by Hay House (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) I was given this book on audio as a gift. What a gift it was. I have always enjoyed the teachings of Abraham & adore Jerry & Esther. I find great solace in this work. This volume in particular was instrumental in helping me point my canoe downstream & drop the oars. The most valuable truth for me was this, "There is nothing that you want upstream." What a relief & what a wonderful book. Focusing more on the Law of Allowance than attraction, this book gives keen insight into the vibrational signals we receive form our Higher Self / Inner Being through our emotions. Simple, profound & quite humorous. If you like the Hicks, this is another delight. If you are new to the Hicks, you will find this enjoyable & immediately applicable. MAL |

Anatomy of the Spirit
by Caroline Myss (2006 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection)
Ms Myss is one of my all time favorite Teachers. Her work in the Chakras, Medical Intuition & Energy Healing has brought me to my knees on too many occasion to count. For this I am truly thankful. In this book she combines the 7 Chakras with the 7 Sacraments of Christianity & the Tree of Life form the Jewish system of Mysticism of the Kabala. This is a door opening book as it radically shifts perception & aligns one with the 7 spiritual Truths underlying all mystic Spiritual Traditions, A must ready for the modern day mystic. MAL |

A New Earth by Eckhart
Tolle (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) I really enjoy Mr. Tolle. This book further extends the implications written in The Power of Now to a more global level. In this way it is a sequel, yet, I found new materials here that were perhaps hinted at in the previous work, but fleshed out in a fuller scope. Very inspiring & contains a vision that supports my life & path, being very universal & at the same time personal. A great experience. MAL |

Ascension by MSI
This is the nuts & bolts of the Ishayas practice of meditation called ascension. I liked this one better that 1st thunder, which was the story telling version of how The Practice came to the west. This book really defines the process, but does not reveal the inner core of the teachings, which comes face to face with a teacher. This is the core metaphysics & spirituality behind Ascension, as well as consciousness for that matter. Very interesting. MAL |

Ask & it is Given by Esther & Jerry Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham) Published by Hay House (2006 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection)
What a great book. This one crystallizes the process of Manifestation, implementing very easy to understand language & practical exercises. I really love this book. It explains why we can cast & visualize & pray our brains out & still not manifest what we want. Its focus on The Law of Attraction & teaching how to stay in Vibrational Allowance has drastically enhanced my manifestation rate. I also love how it redefines the intuition as an 'Emotional Guidance system' this is really worth the read & will be added to my required reading list for my private students of Alchemy & manifestation.MAL Check out their website for more info at: |

Carpe Jugulum by Terry
Pratchett
Literally "Seize the Jugular" this book is off & running with Vampires who attempt a political takeover of the mountain countryside of Lancre. Granny Weatherwax to the rescue. Mr. Pratchett can haunt & tickle at the same time. But don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing at yourself. MAL

Channeling Grace: Invoking the Power of the Divine by Caroline Myss (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) What can I say about Ms Myss that I have not already said. IMHO she is a genius of what she does & never fails to deliver the kick in the ass I need. Her lecture / audio work is exemplary. This subject is a passion for her & you can feel it in your heart. I was able to understand & implement what Myss discusses easily. An otherwise heady subject is brought down to brass tax & I loved every minute of it. The thought of each of us as channels of Grace not only inspires, but implies a responsibility to become that channel, to rise to the 'Altitude of the Mystics.' With Caroline's Spiritual Direction & sharp style, we are prodded to the heights of our potential. MAL |

The Color of Magic by
Terry Pratchett
The First book of the Diiscworld series. You don't have to read Pratchett in order, but it helps. Here we meet Rincewind the Wizard, bedraggled ... well, I guess she's the hero. But he's not very good at Magick & mostly succeeds by running in the opposite direction of it. Then, the Luggage. You'll find yourself feeling for the luggage. I did.

Creative Visualization
by Shakti Gawain (2006 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection)
This is the very 1st book on consciousness development I ever read. I was 16 at the time & this just blew my mind. The first few chapters of this book is an invaluable metaphysics 101. This is another one of those must reads for people wanting to start out on a clear path toward empowerment. The exercises are still valuable tome this day & I've certainly utilized 'The Pink Bubble' for my other work as a Witch. Fun & Inspiring to read. MAL |

Defy Gravity
by Caroline Myss (2010 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) I reccommend Caroline Myss a great deal, almost every day. Her work always gives me deep insight that triggers a lot of interior transformation & healing on a consistent basis. I know when I am starting any of Myss's work, I'm in for a ride. Defy Gravity lives up to this statement. Her description of Grace & how we connect with it is revoloutionary. Not that it hasn't been said before, but her approach is clarifying, showing us exactly how we begin to make room to let Grace in. Her pairing of 7 Graces with 7 Shadow Passions just blows my mid. I've been working with this for awhile atthsi writing & I have seen Shadows within me give way to Grace in many ways. This work is worthy of any Witch's time. It is uviversal, applicable & rooted in solid, ancient & mystic wisdom. MAL |
The Disappearance
of the Universe by Gary Renard (2006 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) What an amazing & transformative book. A series of transcribed conversation between Mr. Renard & 2 Ascended Masters, this otherwise intense book of information is written in an easy to read way. These Masters appeared to Gary in bodies, so is not 'channeled.' This opens up as many questions as the book answers. It is definitely one of the reasons I became a renewed student of A Course in Miracles, opening it up to a fresher understanding than I had before. This is a must read for any serious student of Metaphysics. Interestingly enough, Witches in particular have been enjoying this book, understanding that it speaks about the very core Laws that we live by. Its also given whole new meaning to Forgiveness as a moment by moment spiritual practice. This is great fun & a great read. Enjoy! MAL |

Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything
Across Italy , India , and Indonesia by Elizabeth Gilbert Published by Viking (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) A brilliant piece of journalism on the spiritual path. I really enjoyed Elizabeth Gilbert's story, as it was her reading the book on audio, I felt a strong connection with her voice. The similarities & coincidences kept coming as I listened to her words. I found myself in these pages, much to my surprise. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone on their path in times of doubt, which we all come to. Gilbert's savvy, though never astringent humor, certainly sobers the often times fluffy aspirations of spiritual pathhood. MAL |

Enchanted
Love by Marianne Williamson ~~~~~ This is an amazing book. Marianne tells it straight out, a no holds barred approach to love of self & others. What I had been taught about love is not what genuine love is at all. This book strips away the clutter & gets to the issues of the heart; shooting holes thru all the rest of the nonsense, and often harmful things, many of us were raised to buy into. Give it a looksy folks... The Gargoyle with a touch up |

Entering the Castle: Exploring Your Mystical
Experience of God by Caroline Myss Published by Hay House (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) What can I say about Caroline Myss that I haven't said before? I adore the woman from a distance. I love her brisk style & no nonsense attitude. I have every audio she has recorded on ITunes. But I also wouldn't want to have her dress me down in public or private either. Well, Ms Myss does some serious dressing down of many of our spiritual myths in this volume & gets down to the nitty gritty of the path of mysticism. She is brilliant & I can't think of a better word than incisive with her personal experiences of the mystical experience. Her work with St Theresa is evident. She has translated a good part of the Saint's work on the Inner Castle to contemporary times & does it with a poetic symmetry that I come to love in all of Caroline's work. I openly admit, I could not finish this work ( I only have entered up to the 2nd Mansion of seven. It was too strenuous for me this year. BUT, it is on my list to finish, not just as a good read, but as a guide through the inner castle of my Soul. MAL |

Everyday Grace by Marianne
Williamson (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) This book has been on my shelf for years, but I include it in 2007 top 10 suggested list because it is one I refer to a lot. It is one of those books you can say a quick prayer about, then open to a page & there is your guidance. Marianne is a truly gifted speaker & writer, but more than a philosophical approach alone, this book offers "wands" that can be used for a more everyday mystical experience. The book brims with love with healthy dashes of human humor, allowing me to apply these universal principles in a more easy & graceful way. A Must read for those new to Miracle Working & must have for the student of Mysticism. MAL |

First Thunder by MSI Published by SFA This is the fictional telling of how MSI found the Ishayas or vice versa. I hear it was pretty much true, but regardless its a good book. The Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen Published by Harper San Francisco After reading the "God" version of her work, I dove into the Goddesses. This author opened me to Jungian Psychology & archetypes. I found many aspects of my internal world in these goddesses, even though I happen to be male in this life. I looked at every woman in my life differently since reading this. The Grift
by Debra Ginsberg (2010 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) This book was suggested to me by one of my Elders. It drew me in very quickly as a story of a woman trained to con peopleout of their money pretending to be a gifted psychic. Illuminata by Marianne Williamson Published by Random House The book that got me praying again. I got this as a gift for Christmas back in 94, it could not have come at a better time. It really shifted my life at a core level. Ok, yes, it was my connection to the divine that made the changes, but this book helped me learn to pray with my own words, through reading Marianne's. In short, I learned to pray as deep as I wanted or as simple as "God? Help! Thanks. Amen. MAL |

I Need your Love - Is that True?: How to Stop Seeking Love, Approval & Appreciation and Start Finding them Instead by Byron Katie God Bless Byron Katie! So often we find ourselves mired in thoughts that drag us down to the depths of pain & depression. Yet we never really question if any of this is true. It is like an optical illusion of the mind, seeing one thing, while what is really there remains hidden in plain sight. This work gives us a simple process of questioning our thoughts & beliefs, helping us to ask if any of it is even true. She gives us the basic premise early on & spends the rest of the book in examples. This frees the reader almost instantly, as anyone is apt to run across their own illusions in the reading. For me, it was a wonderful opportunity to free myself from the "need" of love & approval. Just as the title implies, it helped me actually find it all within. MAL |

The Law of Attraction
by Esther & Jerry Hicks (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) What a great read this was. Though all of the material herein seems to be written transcripts from channeled verbal work, the Hicks edited the material in a flowing way that made understanding the 3 major laws in much easier. I do think that anyone seriously looking into The Law of Attraction would be well set to start here. Abraham's teachings are completely universal, practical & without religious dogma or undertone. It is applicable to anyone regardless of religious background or spiritual practice. I've already manifested a lot working with the Hicks & Abraham. This is one I shall return to at least once a year. MAL |

Living the Liberated Life and Dealing With the Pain-Body by Eckhart Tolle
(2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) An exquisite visit with a master of silence. Mr Tolle is a deep teacher of the ability to heal by witnessing the pain in our physical, emotional & mental bodies. This came in very handy during my "shamanic descents" & so it has been added to the 2008 suggested list. This is audio, so you really get the tone of how Tolle teaches. Money &
The Law of Attraction by Jerry & Esther Hicks (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) In challenging economic times, this work rides in like an inspirational cavalry of truth & law. The teachings of Abraham are very consistent, as usual. But here we see specific application toward the very foundations of human life. This NY Times bestseller has made quite the impact on my life. The suggestions are certainly more simple than easy to implement. But this is more due to consistency of practice than anything else. If anyone is experiencing the emotional plunge that the economic roller coaster of the world provides, this book is the helping hand offering some interior stability. Its exercises, which are more like games, will lead anyone willing to a higher frequency band of vibration. Anything can be turned around using this very entertaining program. MAL |

Nation
by Terry Pratchett (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) Though not a Discworld book, this story held me captive for days. Truly tribal, it shows how we all have the tribe within us & how we are all eventually called to grow up & serve. Set in this world, Nation gives us an amazing juxtaposition to our current times. It delineates the story of the struggle of young boy finding his way to be a Chief in a world destroyed only to be reborn through following our Spirit in tandem with community. I love how Pratchett writes another Young Adult book that kept my quite adult mind entranced. What a brilliant man & what a wonderful read.

The Path to Love: Renewing the Power of Spirit In Your Life by Deepak Chopra Published by Random House (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) I did this one on audio & I'm so glad I did. Nothing soothes me quite like Mr. Chopra's poetic & paradoxically liltingly deep voice. He's like warm sweet spiced cream in this work & the healing it evokes is delicious. Not just a text, but a beautiful explanation of the power process of Love. Chopra goes beyond the staple of "love yourself" into a much deeper exploration of what that entails as a daily spiritual practice & self healing modality. I will return to this work often, as it sets my heart to float. MAL |

He helped me very much, keeping me grounded in my true self as I watched old emotional patterns rise & dissolve. He really has a vision of Universal Spirituality that cuts through all the confusion of belief system. Sara, Book
1: Sara Learns the Secret About the Law of Attraction Published by Hay House (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) It's a fun read & yes, it is for kids. But I found this story to be simple, touching & filled with Law. I laughed a lot while reading this. I also felt a few tears drop here & there at the story of Sara mitigating her way through her daily life. Here we are served up with a doable plan for maintaining our connection to source through the ups & downs of a contrasting world. Yet it is done without all the heavy language or paradoxical modes of most metaphysical stories. Yes, it is for kids, but this kid loved it a lot. I Highly recommend this work for parents on the path who want their kids to feel better about any situation they are faced with. MAL |

The Secret by Rhonda
Byrne (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection)
I could write a whole page on this one book, let alone the Audio CD & DVD of the movie which inspired it all. The Secret is one of the best tools I have found to educate people on a lot of what I have been teaching & practicing in my 20 year career as a teacher etc. Ms. Byrne is doing a lot to lift the people of the planet with this work. Perhaps more practical that transcendent, this is a great piece to hand to someone completely new or skeptical to the idea of reality creation. It is a start though & even those with many years on the path of self discovery & human potential can benefit from its plethora of teachers , philosophies, stories & applications. This is the Law of Attraction at its most produced & I actually loved every moment of it. MAL |

The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore by Deepak Chopra Published by Harmony (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection)
Being an Eclectic Witch means I can read / study whatever sparks me. I have always found the subject of Jesus to be a fascinating one, specifically because he reached beyond the boundaries set by his society & chose to Love no matter what. Here Chopra gives us a look at Jesus in a way obvious yet often overlooked. Not a historical or religious viewpoint, but rather a mystical one. I recommend this work to Witches who were raised Christian. It is so important that we don't throw out the wisdom Jesus taught by example with the discarding of dogma & limitation. This book was a literal gift to me, thank you Joanie. I suspect it will be a true gift to those reconciling the Truth of what this Master said with their own core beliefs about Love, Forgiveness & radical transformation of Self. MAL |

The Wisdom
of Florence Scovel Shinn by Florence Scovel Shinn I first read this material in 4 separate books. 1) The Game of Life & How to Play it. 2)The Power of The Spoken Word. 3)Your Word is your Wand & 4) The Secret Door to Success. I was given the last one first as a gift. I had to read the other three. This book has given me more spell ideas than many other books on the Craft. The theories & laws discussed are Universal, meaning any religious or spiritual practitioner could work with the information given. Though Ms Shinn was surely Christian, there is a strong presence of Universal Law, allowing a level play field between all people. Its really about how we use our words to change our lives. This is Magick folks; using words to change your insides, so your outsides change. Don't expect any Latin or Runic translations here. The treatments & decrees listed here are in plain simple english. If you can substitute your own name for divinity, these phrases can work. I'm used them myself. These are more than affirmations. I think of them as reminders, of truth, of Law. They are not statements so much as commands. This is very powerful stuff & I think doubly powerful in the mouths of WItches. Her personal stories coupled with the tales of Ms Shinn's clients/students are very archetypal & relatable. We've all been there & you can see how these words, when spoken with clarity, power & constancy would shift things for the better. A Must Read for the verbal magickal person.MAL I just finished reading The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn.

and many of the sayings found therein. This book focuses on affirmation
work that leads to transforming negative thought forms into positive
thought forms. You can change your life by the way you think. I can't
say enough about it! It's a definite must read. Kathleen Torres |

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher Published by Simon & Schuster I had to add this to the 2009 list. It is a very fun read though it may stand out form the rest of the books on the list. Neither fiction or specifically 'spiritual,' it certainly covers most of the ins & out of human life & relationships. I love Ms Fisher. Her humor & candid self exposure makes this less a tell all than a personal story of touching process in healing. I laughed, out loud in many parts. I also sympathized with her in many places where her story mirrored my own. All in all, read this book & laugh at life. It is worth doing both. MAL |

Witches
Abroad by Terry Pratchett (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading
Selection) Helped me get out of some grooves I wasn't aware I was in. Helpful book. MAL I added this to the 2009 list because it is one of my fav Pratchett books. It falls in perfectly as fiction for those changing their own life stories. BTW, don't stand between 2 mirrors. MAL |

You Can Heal Your Life The Movie
by Louise Hay Published by Hay House (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) Man, you just have to love Louise Hay. Finally someone sat down & filmed her telling her own story. This really touched me. You can see she is at one with her teachings. She is illuminated in this movie & it is very cathy light. The interviews with other spiritual teachers is deep & insightful. The Hicks, Doreen Virtue, Wayne Dyer & others in the Hay House house of writers grace this work with their own stories & processes. All in all, I loved this movie & will look further into the additional 4 hours of extras they offer. In short, no disrespect intended to Ms. Byrne, but You Can Heal Your Life the Movie made the Secret look like an infomercial. See this film.

Your Immortal Reality by Gary Renard Published by Hay House (2007 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) This may well be the year of sequels. If this is indeed a sequel to Disappearance of the Universe, then Gary, Arten & Pursah did a magnificent job at keeping me glued to the info. I really adore this man, he's so humorous, so sweet & is so not afraid to poke a joke at himself. Considering the subject matter, this can be a bit surprising. But that is the best part of his work with The Course in Miracles, it is LIGHT, meaning Truth / Understanding. This book certainly helped me understand Disappearance more It shifted how I read & apply the Course. But best of all, it gave me new ways to look at Quantum Forgiveness as my only true function in this dream we call a world. Being immortal myself, I'm glad we have Gary along for the ride with us. Your Power to Create by Caroline Myss
Published by Sounds True (2008 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) Ms Myss sounds off on the laws & process of creation. Fasten your seat belts kids, she takes no hostages. As intense as she is about the over-simplification of the process of manifestation, is as tender as she is holding the heart's desires of the listener. This woman is a master teacher in my book & this audio really made me look deeply at the motivations behind my intentions, spells, prayers & my spiritual practice. Hard work, but well worth it, as Myss often is. MAL

Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace & More by Joe Vitale & Ihaleakala Hew Len Published by Wiley (2009 Top 10 Suggested Reading Selection) Wow, what a book. It was my introduction to Ho'oponopono a practice that puts it all into a healing perspective. Its simple language teaches the grace that comes with 100% responsibility. By simply repeating the "Graces" of 'I'm Sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you." I find myself clearing memories & patterns long held trapped. Dr. Hew Len's voice comes out clear as a healer & teacher of peace. His story of healing an entire ward of criminally insane patients is enough pudding proof for me. I treasure this work & am so glad to have the Ho'oponopono process in my arsenal of healing tools. MAL |
