Man has persisted in the study of dreams throughout the ages-

not only because dreams provide a wealth of information about our daily world,

but because of what they tell us about our relationship to the world within ourselves.

When we awaken and review the dream we had,

it seems to have been an entirely spontaneous production,

when, in reality, it was skillfully create by our subconscious mind.

Dreams appeared so spontaneous that the ancients

took them as messages from the gods or from the individual's soul.

Maybe they were not so far wrong.

It is possible that, while we are sleeping,

the dream is really our soul talking to us

in its own particular way.

It is also possible that dreams are produced

by the computer we call the brain.

I feel that both theories play a part in the genesis of our dreams.

There is no reason why both of these processes

could not have their input into an individual's dream.

This lecture will allow you to understand

the fundamental nature of the dreaming process.

It will allow those who are really concerned with their own dreams

to make some sense out of them.

We will touch upon the history, the mechanics, symbols and their meaning
